ASHES FROM 1918

2024

2024. 3’09”, microscopic footage, stereo sound

Descriptive
Sólheimajökull is due to perish in the next 3 decades. As an ever changing archive, it currently undergoes a constant change in the state of matter.
At the glacier of Sólheima one can witness the ashes of 1918 Katla’s eruption emerging from the melting ice. If glued to the icy ground the human might see some of these particles embedded within the ice, waiting to become surface.

Video piece captured with microscopic lenses on site.
