NATURE DESIGN CAMP

2023

Bodies of water

“Experts from near and far from the interdisciplinary fields of crafts, science, activism, food art, performance and design came together in the cultural space Burgruine Blumenegg and explored the relationship between water and humans from an artistic and scientific perspective in a three-day program together with international participants from seven European countries (Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Austria). The result – an invitation for a decelerated weekend in and with nature to critically examine the anthropocentric view and how we can overcome it.”

A 3 day participatory practice was led with 25 participants. Set in Thüringerberg, an interdisciplinary research from the fields of crafts, design, performance, food art and science focused an investigation on bodies of water, in particular, the Lutz river.

The NDC, unfolded in a publication, a documentary and an exhibition.

It was free and open to all. Participation, program, materials, camping and regional food were free of charge. No previous knowledge of craft, design, science or art is required. Please note, that in the regard of intercultural exchange, the entire NDC will be held in English and German.

Our first NDC edition was internationally acknowledged with the GUSTA award 2022 (Gothenburg, Sweden).
